About the show
A 90 minute performance for theatre spaces and rural touring venues. Featuring songs, stories, dialect poems and traditional tunes performed by multi-instrumentalist and storyteller Steve Wharton, singer Katie Gentry and violinist Ryan Wood.
It is also possible to include open floor spots, offering 3-4 opportunities for local performers to be a part of the show by performing either traditional or original material.
The first performance will be on Sat 26th November at Florence Mine. It is also booked for 17th February at The Forum, Barrow and I hope it will be offered on the Arts Out West menu for spring 2017.
Cumbrian Songs & Stories started as an hour long, one-man show for guests at the Derwentbank Hotel, Portinscale. Guiding the audience around the county through traditional songs and verse alongside original songs and stories since March, I have performed the show in hotels, pubs and holiday cottages to approximately 1000 people.
Steve is also able to lead one-off or regular song and story writing workshops in the run up to performances. He has a current DBS check and public liability insurance.
